New Ideas In Realty Market

I have been following the MLS versus private/discount realty services argument for sometime now...the more one reads into it, the more confusing it gets...

MLS has become an essential tool that dominates the resale realty market in Canada. It offers the largest database for Realtors to work with while also allowing limited public access. Private/Discount brokerages all want a piece of the billion dollar realty market and wish to inject fresh/new ideas into the realty market.

I am certain there is room for both players to exist peacefully and thrive. In the meanwhile, I myself have been pondering how to deliver a better, transparent, and more cost effective Buy/Sell experience to the clients. Watch out this space for some developments in the next few months.

Realty Corner - Free Enterprise vs MLS ??

Entrepreneur: "Knock Knock"
MLS: "Who's there?"
Entrepreneur: "Free Enterprise...Consumer Choice...Competition...The Better Way"
MLS: "They are already here...you can keep moving"

Who is really right in this fight? The public eagerly awaits the court decision but that is probably still months (or years) away...

In the meantime, entrepreneurs are trying various different business models with each one hoping that they got it right...Lets wait and see...

Social - Vancouver Olympics 2010

Hooraaay....
Canadians must feel so proud (I know I do) to host the Olympics...It is a great opportunity to see the greatest athletes for their place in history...
The opening ceremonies will simple be amazing...The world is our stage today...
Wishing the best of luck to athletes from around the world...and just a little bit of extra luck for our Canadian athletes...make us proud...

Realty Corner - Home Hunting

Supply is not equal to demand in this real estate market...

I showed 4 homes in Mississauga (ON) last week with 2 selling for above asking and 1 at 100% of list price...

Most financial experts seem to agree that mortgage rates will eventually start to move up but the real estate sales continue to soar...Buyers seem to be much more confident in the economic recovery and are investing heavily in solid assests, such as real estate.

Realty Corner - Reno Time Part II

Whew..almost completed the new home reno project...

New paint...new laminate flooring...new baseboards...new lighting...new kitchen..new 50" Plasma TV + Sony PS3 (that is my reward)...

It has been a great learning experience doing all the work myself with great help from my brother...and a contribution here and there from friends..

Watching all those Holmes on Homes surely paid off...

First, purchased my first home..a cozy little townhouse in Maple, ON...needs paint, new flooring, and a 50" tv...

Secondly, closing for a great semi-detached for a Buyer in Mississauga, ON...no work required...Buyer will enjoy the home...
